My New Hood

On Monday I moved. It was chaotic and hurried but 2 hours later I was in my new place with 90% of my belongings. I still need to go to my old place and pick up straggling items and clean but for the most part everything is done.

My new place is awesome!! It's great room. The colors are yellow and orange (think sunset) and it is rather large. I think that the room is about as large as my old in-law. The neighborhood is even better. I am truly in the middle of the city in a very happening neighborhood. Everything is so close it's ridiculous. I am 2 blocks away from a park, a tourist site, a famous street, 4 awesome restaurants, 3 pretty sweet bars, 3 clothing stores, 2 corner markets, a drugstore , small grocer store, butcher, and a pot club (hey it's SF). If I didn't have to leave for work, I might not ever feel obligated to leave the 2 block radius from my apartment.

Best of all? No unstable toilet!!

Celebrate Good Times C’mon!

Is anybody else pleased as punch about the results of America Votes 2006?? Because I am over the moon!! It’s great to finally see the country waking up and making GW face the music. Already big changes are happening….Rummy has resigned and we seem to have a more level headed person up for the position. I am interested to know a bit more about this Gates guy, so if anybody has any ready info, send it my way.

Even better?? Yesterday when I voted, I realized that I am INDEED under Nancy Pelosi. I live in a weird part of town where the zip code is split in half (half to Tom Lantos and half to Nancy Pelosi). And while I am sad that I am not in the Lantos sad, I am proud to say that I voted for Nancy Pelosi in the historic election of the FIRST WOMAN TO SENATE MAJORITY LEADER!!!!

Things are going so well, I hope the Supreme Court doesn’t take the wind from my sails with the abortion case they’ve started hearing today. The last thing I need is another fight after being saddled with all these conservative Justices. Perhaps Roberts will break away from the herd and be a voice of reason ala Sandra Day O’Connor.

For today, I’m not going to worry about the case in The Court or even what kind of crap that Robert Gates may be hiding. Today I’m going to celebrate Kool and the Gang style!!

Special thanks to all the people of Montana, Virginia, Missouri, and everybody else who turned the tide and helped to beat back the Bush agenda.

Euchre!

So, last night I went out with my future roomie to solidfy my new place. We met in a local bar. However, this is not like any other local bar. It's a place full of euchre players. That's right you heard me.....euchre.

The euchre players were four tables deep last night full of people from all over the midwest and upstate NY. I couldn't resist and found myself playing euchre for 2 hours! It's a ridiculous fun game and I can see there will be problems arising from me knowing how to play this game.

I've already looked online for people to play with. In case you're wondering www.pogo.com has free euchre. Currently, I'm restraining myself from going to craigslist yahoo to find groups. I think it's a safe bet that I will be back to the place of my euchre inception to play again.

For those of you who haven't played, find someone to teach you. You will not be sorry. For those of you snickering at me I snicker back. You're missing out on good stuff! And finally for those of you who know how to play and aren't playing at least once a week, shame on you!

Missing In Action, Part Deux!

Oops! I fell off the “updating” wagon again. However, this time I have a real excuse. I have been doing a lot of work. That’s right after almost 2 years of slothful behavior and small stints of work. I have been working my keister off at my current job. Don’t believe me? Let me enlighten you.

I worked 80 hours 2 weeks ago while in FL for a company conference. There was actually a point where I thought it was Tuesday and it was Thursday. I’m sure you could understand my confusion as Monday night was the last time that I had slept. Oh, and last week wasn’t a slack week with 60 hours of work. Thus far, this week counting today, I will be up to 30 hours. Before you ask, yes we’re aware that we need another person in the office and there is an active search.

And you can bet that I will need it since I will be moving at the end of this month. That’s right, I finally got something together to move as well. I told you that I had an excuse for not being around!! I’m going to be living with a friend who’s been having roommate troubles. So it works out, essentially it fell into my lap and I was smart enough to jump on it. BTW – sinking toilet update – the sinking has stopped but the toilet is on uneven ground and rocks. It’s kinda soothing and disturbing at the same time. Also, I’ve sprung a couple of leaks in the bathroom. So you can imagine my happiness at leaving it all behind!!
