Monday, Monday
Today I stayed home from work. I have a lovely summer cold to end the month of June. Given my free time today, I thought that I would write a little update on the blog for those of you hanging on to my every written word :-)
My niece arrived last Wednesday evening. Thus far things have been going well. It's funny, I don't know what I expected but I'm pretty sure this isn't it. I was still expecting the kid that told me she didn't have time for boys as they're a "distraction". Instead what I have is a 15 year old who likes boys more than I would like and a growing concern over todays music scene as she seems to know every word to every song as well as what they mean. I've turned into my nightmare, and it's not my mother. I've turned into Tipper Gore.
Tomorrow she starts school and this past Saturday we went to pick up her books as well as show her the campus. We had to have a little "Dorothy, you're not in Kansas anymore" chat when I saw the "bookbag" that she brought. It was essentially as drawsting purse. I couldn't help myself when I saw it, I had to laugh and when she saw her books she understood the laughter. Poor kid, she has NO idea what she's in for this summer. I can't wait for the end of tomorrow to see her reaction to her syllabi on her lab and discussion courses.
