I've got that sinking feeling....

So....this weekend was rather eventful for me. Not because it was a long weekend or because I met some insanely great person. No, my weekend was eventful because of something that happened in my bathroom. On Saturday, I went to the bathroom and found myself slightly sinking.

Now mind you my entire bathroom isn't sinking it's just the side that my sink and toilet happen to be on. And for those of you who haven't had this happen (fairly sure that's either all or most of you), there is nothing more horrifying than finding yourself slowing going down while already sittting on something that should be sturdy. Thankfully it is only slightly depressed which means, it's still functional but if that isn't a sign to get out of Dodge, I don't know what is.

For those of you that know me already know I had contemplated moving a few months ago but laziness and cheap rent compelled me to stay. Now that I am a nervous wreck whenever I have to potty, I think it's time to become proactive and pony up some dough before I am quite literally on my behind.

Kinky Boots, indeed!

So, last night I went to a lovely dinner and movie with a girlfriend of mine. We had a rather typical girl filled evening filled with good food, nonprofit conversation, and a foreign film. Now mind you the foreign film was Kinky Boots. For those of you who don't know about Kinky Boots, it is a film (inspired by a true story) about a drag queen and a shoemaker teaming up. The shoemaker wants to keep his factory open and the drag queen wants a heel that can support her weight.

It was pretty standard fare as far as romantic comedies go, but let me tell you something. I found myself coveting a pair of those Kinky Boots! Those things were absolutely hot. One pair of thigh high boots even had a side panel for a riding crop! Please, please, please people you have to see this movie, screw the plot or what the people are saying just look at those glorious boots!

....and if you happen to know where I too can get a pair of the thigh high/riding crop ensemble boots, let me know :-)

Public Transportation

Many of you may or may not know this about me, so I'm going to just put it out there - I don't drive. I mean it, I can't drive, and it's not from a DUI. I have no idea how to drive. Okay, that's not true, I mean I know you get in and turn the key but that's where things get a little fuzzy. My main issue is remembering which pedal is the gas and which pedal is the brake, something very essential to drive AND stay alive.

Being license free has not been as much of a hindrance as you might think. I've done quite a bit without a license. I've gone on several road trips, where my role was navigator AND I got to sit in the front passenger seat the whole time. I also never got to sleep, drivers can be mean when you don't take a turn behind the wheel. I've lived in several cities - Chicago, Boston, and currently San Francisco. I can tell you that out of these three Chicago has the best public transportation hands down. I can also tell you that San Francisco has the worst hands down.

Rush hour is a crapshoot. Everybody is waiting for the same three trains but they run the other two. I regularly tell people it's going to be an hour even though this city is seven miles by seven miles. Even if I drove I wouldn't drive because there's nowhere to park, unless you want to pay $0.25 for 10 minutes. My commute this morning was a prime example of the beautiful system known as MUNI. I live on the southwest side of the city. This area is a huge commuting population. My neighborhood is very residential and most people take public transportation to work and school. Since I also happen to live next to a BART station, which is rapid transit (express trains if you will) connecting SF to Oakland this is the optimal choice for getting to work in 20 minutes versus an hour. Many other people also choose this option. Unfortunately, we have to take Muni for 10 minutes to get to BART and MUNI wasn't having it today. I, and the other 20 people at my train stop stood for 30 minutes while 5 trains went in the other direction. 5 trains!! By the time the train arrived in our direction there was only one car and the driver was on his cell phone.

The worst part is, after waiting 30 minutes for a train to get to BART, I was only 10 minutes late to work. I gotta move closer to BART.

Welcome!

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to the Liver Spa! The liver spa will be a place where I rant about things that make me laugh, cry, groan and roll my eyes. This will be a virtual bar, a place where conversation happens without rhyme or reason. This is a soothing place for our tongues to wag without judgment and a shelter when it's just too difficult to slip away for a drink.

So raise your mouse and join me in a toast "To the Liver Spa!"
